“The Introduction”

Hi everyone! My name’s Payton, and I’m a young fan of all things Pop Culture! I’m here to

introduce myself and give a bit of a look into who I am, and how all of this got started in the first place!

I first fell in love with Marvel when I was around 13 years old and my dad introduced me to the first Iron Man movie. I just thought it was the coolest thing ever and I just knew this one thing—I NEEDED to watch more!

From there, I watched all of the MCU movies, watched the shows, and branched out beyond just the MCU! Getting to experience all of these staple movies for the first time is honestly a feeling I can’t describe because looking back I realize how important each and everyone of those moments were to me, especially now.

I remember the feeling of watching the first Avengers movie, staying up late to finish Black Widow, and watching Captain America brave New World as my very first MCU movie in theaters (I saw Spider-Man across the spider verse before, but as I said, not quite MCU).

I really started digging deep into the world of Marvel from there because I honestly felt a deep connection to it. I started buying Comics. I started my Funko pop collection.

I started going to conventions and lots of comic book stores. I even started collecting all types of Marvel cards! At this point, there’s no more room in my house! I could go on for ages about all of that, but I’ll spare you some time for now haha!

One of my favorite things to do is definitely go to conventions because it’s such a fun way to meet new people and have really cool experiences that you would never think possible until you really get into this community! Speaking of conventions, I’m gonna get into how all of this started!

So like I said, I started branching out from the MCU and that’s when I discovered

X-Men! X-Men is definitely a topic I’ll have to dive into in the future, but for now just know that it has such a special place in my heart.

It all started at Joe Fest 2026 when I was walking around the convention and I see Back To Pop Media set up with a special guest—Larry Houston!

Oh my gosh, he’s a legend!! I nervously walk over and I start talking to Mr. Larry and I grab a super cool autograph from him! As we’re standing there, my dad and I start talking to him and Mr. Marc!

We talked about how much I love X-Men and all things pop culture! I really really enjoyed talking to them and I knew I had to talk to them more throughout the weekend because it was just so enjoyable and such a fun conversation with these awesome people! JoeFest is held inside of a hotel so to be able to get to the convention we stayed on site and so did Mr. Larry and Mr. Marc so I frequently ran into them around the halls!

Later that day, I was downstairs waiting for a food order and they happen to come sit down, also waiting, and that’s when I walked over to continue the previous conversation!

We dove a lot deeper into X-Men and Mr. Larry’s involvement in it and all that he has done to contribute to it; he is just the coolest person!

I’ve already said it, and I’ll say it again—it was an absolute HONOR to meet him! From there during the rest of the convention, I would stop by and talk with him and Mr. Marc every so often and anytime I saw them, I gave them a wave or nod in passing.

At the end of the convention, Mr. Larry drew me a sketch of wolverine and signed it as well! I couldn’t believe it! How cool!

As the convention wrapped up, I said goodbye to them and decided to grab a picture with Mr. Marc!

From then on we’ve kept in touch with Mr. Marc because he was such a kind person and my family really enjoyed getting to know him that weekend!

Then, one day I got a message from him that I couldn’t believe asking if I wanted to start writing these articles for him!

I was freaking out!

First of all writing for him is the coolest thing ever! This community is something that I’ve always wanted to be a part of and this is my 1st foot in the door! So be ready for lots more articles and much deeper dives into the whole world of pop culture!

This is such an amazing opportunity and I can’t wait to keep writing!
